Timber Communities Australia Welcomes Positive Move By Carr Government On Mogo Carbon Facility…May 01 2002

Timber Communities Australia (TCA), today welcomes Premier Carr’s announcement that Government approval has been given for the establishment of the Mogo Carbon Facility.

This proposed development will marry with further processing at Cowra and Lithgow to deliver a world class product with huge economic benefits for NSW. “Premier Carr has shown initiative and drive with this announcement. Well done Premier Carr!” said Ms Jill Lewis, National Director TCA.

The world class Regional Forest Agreement for southeast NSW has secured suitable resource for this plant now and into the future- with the use of residue from already harvested forests.

The Eurobodalla Shire can only benefit from the creation of the new jobs this project will create. With above state average unemployment at present, members of local and regional communities will surely welcome this relief.

TCA welcomes this progressive approach to our future.
